TLCPoV – which is the short way of saying “The Last Cocktail Party of Venus” – is coming up fast! I shared some photos from the promo shoot in the original post a couple of weeks ago, but wanted to share some of the outtakes from the session as well.
After the success of the “Pride & Prejudice” promo session, the troupe agreed that we need to kick off each production that way. Throwing the cast into costume, into some form of their character, and then in front of the lens really helps us all get a feel for the show. And it helps the actors start to flesh out their characters, while also – and perhaps even more importantly – strengthening the bonds between us all.
Calling these outtakes is almost a misnomer – there’s certainly nothing wrong with these photos, nor are they somehow “less than” the ones that got used in the posters. They’re just not the ones that got used. And we shot many of them knowing that they wouldn’t work for the posters, which needed a single actor instead of a group, or a certain pose/attitude that differed from these.
But we shot them anyway, because it was fun and everyone was into it. And because then the cast is able to use them on Facebook, share them with friends, have a new profile photo, etc. It’s part of the fun of it. And all that online exposure does help get the word out there. TLCPoV is a different kind of show – a little modern, a little experimental. And it’s a one-time gig. So here’s hoping that it sells out and is just as much fun as the promo shoot was!
