The Vinage’s Grand Opening
Just a few captures from the grand opening of The Vintage in downtown Scranton. Previously known as the Vintage Theater, it’s a local performance space, entertainment venue, and cafe and simply one of the coolest places in the downtown. Owners Conor and Theresea have put a lot of hard work into setting up their new space and it shows – it’s a beautiful venue on the ground floor of the old Hotel Jermyn. It’s got real character and a real comfortable, relaxed feel.
I used The Vintage for a portrait session a couple of weeks back; it was perfect, exactly the kind of studio space I’ve been looking for. The best part, of course, being that they’re open to renting space on an hourly basis, both for events and for artists like myself. (Calling them artist-friendly is almost an understatement, as they’re all about providing a space for the local arts scene.)
For the past few months I’ve been working on a plan that would let me partner with some local venues – places and people who I support, whose mission and ideas I’m in line with. Scranton has a dynamic, and in my experience unique, culture and I’d like to take become a more active participant.
As so often – and curiously – happens, about the time I was forming a plan, events fell into place. So moving forward, I’ll be working with The Vintage, providing both photographic coverage for some of their upcoming events as well as planning some promotional, studio-style shoots in the future.
