And we’re back!

What started as a website upgrade turned into a lot more!  (That seems to happen a lot…)  But at any rate, after a long absence from the web, I’m back and the site is live once more.  I’m still making photos, still looking for clients, and still in love with shooting portraits that really capture the essence of my subjects.

So please bear with me if a few things on the site still aren’t working quiet right – I’ll be fine-tuning and adding finishing touches over the next couple of weeks.

Yeah, it’s another redesign

Sorry for the down-time, all.  The site just went through another redesign (as I’m sure you already noticed).  Apparently you’re supposed to do them every 18-24 months – at least that’s what I hear from the web-industry folks who are in the know.  I think this was my second within six months, and maybe even less…  But I’m back, the site’s back, and I’m much happier with it.

New Website Design

The site has a new look!  If you’ve been here before, I’m sure you noticed right away – it’s a big change.

Although the previous version was only about a year old, I’d had some style issues with it since the start.  It wasn’t really me.  A little too vanilla compared to my photos.  Yeah, I know, it’s not like I’m super edgy or anything, but maybe just a little.  But more importantly, the old site wasn’t able to show off my photos the way I wanted.  They were too small and constrained.  I’m a photographer, after all, and this site is all about photos, so they ought to be the primary focus.

{everyone has a story}

Welcome to the new Brent Pennington: Photographer website! For those of you who have been here before, you’ll see that it’s a complete redesign, with only one goal in mind – telling stories through photos.

If you’re new to the site, then thank you – for taking the time to look around and, hopefully, enjoy the images.

I began telling stories years ago, while still in grade school, in the traditional manner – with words. Whole notebooks, entire worlds made of words. My degree is in Creative Writing, but even as I was still working towards graduation I had already made the transition from telling stories with words to telling stories with images.

The life of a writer is solitary and removed; words can be cold. But as a photographer, the characters in my stories are there with me, living out the best moments of their lifetime right in front of my lens. I’m thrilled to be able to work so closely with people, to form relationships that last long after the photos are printed. It’s the best part of the job.

Let me tell your story.

(If you’re looking for my outdoor photography and gear reviews, that’s all still available at The Roving Photographer.)
