Sara in the summertime
Had a great time working with Sara again a little while back. She’s a wonderful model who is always cheerful and willing to try out just about anything. We met up at McDade Park just before sunset and shot through to twilight, a whole mix of different looks: natural light and flash, in the sun and in the shade. And as always, it rocked!
No specific plan this time, just an idea that we’d try to capture something of that relaxed, summertime feel, and a chance to get out and brush some of the winter dust off. Scripted shoots can be great, when you’re trying for one (or a few) very specific looks, but sometimes it’s better to just go out and making images as they come without much of a plan. Sure, you run the risk of a having a flop session, but far more often I end up pleasantly surprised with what we come up with.
There’s a whole mix of new things at work in these shots. New cameras and lenses, new lighting techniques, new post-processing – heck, almost everything except for me and Sara was new from last time. But working with someone you’ve formed a relationship with, that doesn’t matter – it’s the interaction between people that really makes a shoot fly. And I’m already looking forward to the next one!
