FAQ

How should I prepare for my portrait session?

It’s easiest to work from most-complex to simplest, so come in your “nicest” outfit/hair style/makeup.  That way you start fresh, and as the session continues you can simplify and relax with each change.

Can I change my hairstyle/makeup when I change outfits?

If you want to.  The time scheduled for the session is yours, although it’s advisable to keep hair/makeup/outfit changes to a minimum, in order to get as much time as possible in front of the camera.

Do I have to smile?

No, although it’s a good idea to give it a try.  Sometimes you may be happier with a smiles, other times with a more serious expression.  We’ll shoot both so you can pick your favorite later.

Can you edit my photos to remove blemishes?

Blemishes happen, but my goal is for you to look your best in your photos.  Armed with the power of Photoshop, they’re nothing to worry about, and basic touch-up editing will be done to all images.  Full skin retouching is also available at an additional cost.

I wear glasses – should I wear them in my photos?

If you always wear glasses, then they’re a part of you that should be present in your photos (unless you really hate them).  However, if you only wear them sometimes, or don’t want them in some photos, it’s very easy to shoot two versions of each pose – one with glasses, and one without.

What about sunburn, tan lines, or poison ivy?

Photoshop is great, but we don’t want to give you a virtual skin graft…  Sometimes it’s better to cover up as best as possible.  Or wear sunscreen.

What happens if there’s bad weather on the picture date?

In the event of bad weather we will postpone the session until a later, mutually agreed upon date.  Shooting in the rain is no fun for anyone.

Can I bring my mom/dad/relative/friend with me?

Absolutely – having a friend or relative along can make the portrait process more fun for you, and I can always use an extra set of hands to hold light stands. :)

Can we take the photos outside?

Yes! The great thing about my photography style is that we can have a portrait session just about anywhere, so feel free to coordinate with me on the perfect spot for your photos. I serve the greater Wilkes-Barre/Scranton metropolitan area and there are plenty of settings we can work with.
